Christopher Moses, a former city of Columbus employee, has been appointed as the new vice president of people and culture at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing employee engagement, leadership development, and culture for the zoo and its associated properties. Moses brings with him a wealth of experience, including serving as the director and chief personnel officer for the city of Columbus’ Department of Human Resources. He holds a juris doctor degree and has extensive experience in labor relations and employment law.

Moses expressed his commitment to the zoo’s mission of “Empowering People. Saving Wildlife.” He emphasized the importance of creating a supportive and empowering environment for individuals to carry out meaningful work. Tom Schmid, president, and CEO of the Columbus Zoo and The Wilds, praised Moses for his leadership qualities and integrity, highlighting his ability to align people strategies with organizational goals.

Moses’ background includes representing public-sector labor unions, advising the Ohio state legislature on pension systems, and practicing labor and employment law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the Ohio State University and completed executive education at Harvard Business School. Moses is licensed to practice law in Ohio.
